Gigamic SA Background
Gigamic SA was founded in 1991
in Boulogne sur mer (North of France) by 3 brothers: Jean-Christophe,
Ludovic and Stephane GIRES. The three brothers were born in
a family of six boys who spent their youth playing and inventing
games.
Besides
their passion for games, the 3 brothers are active in various
social and charitable activities outside of the Gigamic business.
Jean-Christophe is the founder and manager of an association
helping start-up companies; Ludovic is the manager of an association
recycling glass and employing 25 people with serious historical
employment problems; and Stephane runs an association helping
couples adopt kids (he personally adopted 3 children).
Gigamic has invented a best seller:
the "Ornamental Game": both useful and good looking,
simple to learn and quick to play, highly creative with a
new concept. Gigamic games do have their own specificities
and have created a whole new niche in the game market. To
get the Gigamic label, a concept needs to be understood in
60 seconds, to be played in 15 minutes and to be able to be
played by an American grandmother and a young Chinese boy.
Transcending beyond cultural borders, Gigamic games can be
played by everybody around the world regardless of their race,
nation, religion or culture. Overall, Gigamic games are quite
peaceful: players don't catch opponents pieces but build together
a scene on the playing board.
Distributed worldwide, Gigamic
games has won many international
awards and are available
in 28 different languages. QUARTO!
is now the most awarded game in the world and every other
Gigamic games have received various prestigious game awards
around the world.
Over
the years, Gigamic's line have become a very exclusive range
of elegant, simple and yet clever strategy and skill games.
Gigamic is recognized worldwide by professional gamers and
leisure players alike as "the" manufacturer of really
new exclusive 3 dimensional strategy and skill games.
The Gigamic line is now sold
by most of the major chain stores around the world: FAO Schwarz
or Zainy Brainy in the US, Karstadt or Kaufhof in Germany,
Corte Ingles in Spain, Hamleys or Harrods in the UK and Bornelund
in Japan.
Stephane
Gires of Gigamic explains, "Our
games can be explained in a few seconds and can be played by people
of all ages and race. The maximum duration of a game is about 15
minutes which makes it an idea family game for today's time-sensitive
working parents. Our games have become very popular with teachers
as more and more school programs have used our games to illustrate
mathematics, logic, team play and communication concepts. Last but
not least, consumers are attracted by the design of our games and
have used them for decoration at home and their office."
"Our
head office building which faces the ocean is located in Wimereux.
It was built and designed especially for us with the intention
of creating an environment for our staff and designers to
encourage creativity and free flow of ideas."
