Gameplan supports Fundraising Events, School Balls, Annual Garden Fetes and Parent-Teacher Associations.

Gameplan welcomes inquiries from Schools/Universities and Teachers about how our games can become great supplementary classroom teaching aids and how we can participate and help with your annual fundraising activities and other events. Our games are proven sellers popular with both students and parents alike and would make ideal items for students to sell in fundraising events. Our family educational strategy games gives your school or organization an opportunity to offer the community educational products that will improve the quality of their lives year round.

School libraries and chess clubs should also stock our complete line of intellectually stimulating games which encourage critical thinking, social interaction and develop mathematics and cognitive skills.

For Teachers

Gameplan suggestions for using our games in the Classroom

Educators:

Gameplan games can be an effective and fun learning tool in the classroom. To get the most benefit out of our games, we offer a few suggestions:

Preparing the class:

  1. To get the most learning out of playing a game, we recommend that you thoroughly prepare the class the day before holding a game-playing session. Emphasize that this is an alternative learning mode, not just fun and games. Set learning guidelines and objectives.

  2. To promote cooperative and interactive learning, designate captains in each group. The Table Captain will be responsible for checking the rules of play and keeping score. The Materials Captain will hand out game materials and return all materials to the box after the play has ended.

  3. Hold a 15-20 minute test run before the first game playing session. Arrange students in their groups. Groups can form a playing surface by turning desks inward. The touching desktops will serve as a table on which to place game materials. Materials Captains should pass out game materials. Table Captains should read the rules. You may want to discuss the rules with the class at this point to be sure that students understand them. Have students try a few turns at the game, but don't record the scores.

Playing the game:

  1. After the test run, students should be able to manage themselves. After the first game playing session, they will be quick to organize themselves to play again. Allow 10 minutes at the end of the playing time to tally scores and put away materials. Players can be divided into teams and sore totals can be posted throughout a several-week session. Excitement builds as the week progress and the teams try to accumulate the winning score. This is a tremendous motivator.

  2. 5. After two game playing sessions in the first week, play the game once a week. Choose a day of the week as "Game Day". Friday is often good. Students will be anxious for another chance to play and improve their scores. They may even prepare for Game Day on their own by studying the subject matter. Just what you want them to do!

Improving game learning:

  1. Game learning is a cooperative learning technique. Even though each game player is working to outscore the opposing players, they must always be good sports and complimentary to teammates or opponents in their game group. A player should never be ridiculed for a wrong move or answer. Players - and even opponents - should be praised for correct moves and answers. No one expects players to know all the information presented in the games before playing. All players are encouraged to make use of information on the game board or other sources to improve their strategy and game plan in the game.
The following Gameplan games are particularly effective for classroom learning:

QUARTO!
QUIXO
QUORIDOR
PYLOS
QUITS

Learning tends to be contagious. We've found that while our games expand minds, they also tend to spark a quest for even more knowledge. Encourage your students to learn more about different strategies and gameplans. Remember, our games are easy to learn yet difficult to master!

For Parents & Grandparents

Parents' Guide

Gameplan's founder, Lancy Kung, has good advice for making family game time a great time!

Even though we know the value of games as communication tools in families and we're convinced of the importance of teaching our children to handle the dynamics of competition, it's easy to find ourselves unprepared for the emotional heights that games can present. Without preparation, family togetherness can dissolve into tears and tantrums. The following guidelines should help prepare you for some quality and fun times ahead.

  1. Start planning your own Family Game Night. It's a fun way to spend quality time together and create a family tradition that you and your kids will remember and cherish for years to come. Here's a fun recipe on how to maximize the time you have together:

    • Mark your calendar one night each week to spend uninterrupted time with your children.
    • Eat dinner together
    • Resist falling into the same routine and get your family excited by pulling out your family's favorite board game.
    • Turn off the TV and computer.
    • Get some snack and drinks on the table.
    • Let the games begin!

  2. Encourage strategic thinking: Discuss the game strategy. What do we have to do to win? Emphasize that there is luck as well as skill involved.

  3. Learn the "Rules of the Games" together.

  4. Emphasize importance of sportsmanship: Always compliment other players for good moves, commiserate when a tactic doesn't quite work. (Parents have to show each other the consideration they show to the children if the lesson is really going to take.). Learn how to be a humble winner and not a sore loser!

  5. Learning can be fun and playing games together as a family will bring you closer together. Children will learn good character habits, good manners and good sportsmanship with you setting the example.

Gift Guide

To make choosing the right game easier for you here are some ideas. As always, we are happy to talk to you about our games to see which would be best for your needs. See our section on Gift Ideas or call us at Tel: (852) 2528-1898 for ideas.

What makes the perfect gift? When that gift is for a child the search can be quite exhausting! Ask a child, and chances are "the perfect gift" will be the latest computer or TV games that they saw on TV advertisements. In the mind of a parent or grandparent, "the perfect gift" might be one that satisfies their own desire to help the child grow to his or her full potential.

At Gameplan, we think our games may just be what you're looking for. If games were part of your childhood, you may recall happy times when your family all got together to play. Family game time offered a chance to laugh and learn together and let the younger ones learn strategies from the older ones. Gameplan still believes in the value of these family times. Although you won't see our games on TV or in the big department stores, we know kids like them; love them in fact. And parents love them, too, as we hear from parents about how the games engaged and entertained their children while challenging them to learn.

Other reasons to give Gameplan games as gifts to family and friends?

  • Multiple levels of play allow games to continue to be fun and challenging as children grow.
  • Giving the gift of learning is always special, but not always common.
  • Game play allows children to visit a subject again and again in different ways.
