"People
are looking at having more activities together, like gaming
and playtime,"
remarked Althea Podmore, marketing director at Seattle-based
consultancy, The Retail Group. "I think it's showing
a trend toward what is important to people, versus the narcissism
and greed in the boom economy."
She also added that there is
a fundamental shift toward more family-oriented, stay-at-home
activities after the September 11 air attacks in the United
States which should benefit retailers and companies selling
family oriented games. People prefer
to stay home and spend more quality time with their families
during these times of uncertainty. Despite the
slowing economy, parents are still buying toys and games for
their children but are more selective and prefer games that
are both educational and entertaining.
Parents are now recognizing they
must do more to help educate their children at home and that
teachers need for parents to assist them. This is why the
market for educational supplemental products, games and services
have exploded. Parents want to help their children, but there
is a limit on parent time, knowledge of how to help their
children, and even language obstacles due to generational
gap.
Educational games allow families,
parents and children to work together in an inviting and engaging
way that both enjoy. In the past, parental involvement in
helping a child with homework was often confrontational. With
our award-winning family educational strategy
games from Gigamic, the parent/child interaction becomes fun
and interesting for both.
Parents, plan your family game
night with your children and spend quality time with them.
Our games are easy to learn and fun to play. They last a life
time, not just one Christmas. If you want something for the
whole family that is both educational and entertaining, look
no further.
